What Active Adults Say About Training With OPAL

Real stories from people who stopped managing their low back pain and got back to the training they love.

I highly recommend OPAL! I saw Dr. Evan for an evaluation and he honestly changed my life. I have had a weak left hand (and wrist and elbow and shoulder) for years now. I saw a different PT several years ago for forearm and wrist pain and he didn't change anything over the many sessions we had. I came to believe that this is just how I am: a person lacking fine motor skills, with an inability to stabilize my joints. I had such a negative story that I told myself about my left arm. My "dumb" arm. I showed Dr. Evan how in quadruped position by left elbow is flimsy. He listened to my concerns and did some testing, concluding that my nerves were trapped and he brought out an anatomy book to show me. He did a few chiropractic adjustments and some manual therapy. When I returned to quadruped position I didn't even recognize my elbow joint! It actually was stable! I instantly started to cry. I was so relieved and happy. I had so much negative self talk wrapped up in that arm, as well as some belief that there was just something wrong with me and I would never be strong. But nope! Just some pesky trapped nerves. I am so grateful. He showed me some moves to help keep the nerves from becoming trapped again. It was truly a great experience.

I spent the last three years with shoulder pain. I tried every manner of treatment from injections to physical therapy to lasers to sound waves and on. Even spent hours in 3 different orthopedics' offices who simply wanted to do surgery to "figure out" what my issue was. Luckily, social media put a video of Opal Movement on my feed and I watched. So I made an appointment, drove 3 hours to meet Dr.'s Morgan and Magda in Austin. It was the first time I felt like a Dr was actually listening to me and 100% focused on trying to solve my problem. After an hour of me explaining my physical history, they had a theory as to the source of my pain: shoulder mechanics. Then they laid out steps I could take to heal, move better, and get back to an active lifestyle. I kid you not, Reviewers, I felt 80% better in less than 72 hours. I drove back to Austin the next week and signed up for their program and haven't looked back since. Today, three months later, I am back in the gym lifting weights, ballroom dancing with my wife, and pain free. Opal Movement Therapy should be your first stop/step when it comes to physical conundrums. They will get you back on the healthy path faster than you can read this. Thank you, Dr. Magda and Dr. Morgan. Heroes!

Working with Evan was incredibly easy and informative, and he explained everything that was going on with my shoulder and what I needed to do so clearly. The facilities at OPAL are top-notch and I’m very excited to keep working with Evan and Morgan!

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn how low back pain PT at OPAL works and what to expect.

Do you take insurance?

We're cash-based and out-of-network. We provide itemized receipts you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept HSA/FSA and offer payment plans to make care accessible.

What types of people do you work with for low back pain?

We work with active adults — lifters, runners, desk workers, and athletes — who are dealing with low back pain that keeps interfering with training or daily life. Whether you're trying to get back to the barbell, run without pain, or just stop feeling like your back is always on the edge, we can build a plan around your specific goals and movement patterns.

How is low back pain PT at OPAL different from standard physical therapy?

Low back pain PT at OPAL is built around your movement, your training load, and your goals — not just symptom relief. We assess what's actually loading your lumbar spine, address it with hands-on manual therapy and targeted strength work, and build a plan that gets your back strong enough to train without constantly modifying around it.

Do I need a doctor's referral to start?

No referral needed. Texas allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can book a phone consult directly. We'll discuss your history, confirm our approach is the right fit, and outline a clear plan before your first session.

Can you help me if my back pain comes and goes?

Yes — recurring low back pain is one of the most common things we see. The pattern of flare-ups usually points to an underlying movement or load issue that hasn't been addressed. We'll assess what's driving it and build a plan to break that cycle so your back stops being the thing that derails every training block.
