What Runners Say About Training With OPAL

Real stories from runners who got past the injury cycle and back to doing what they love.

Decided to visit after seeing amazing improvements in my wife's movement post shoulder surgery. As someone with poor luck with masseuse experiences and reasonable activity, Dr Morgan was able very quickly stablize an issue that had tingling and pain shooting from my shoulder to my fingers. Through a methodical approach that was catered to my lifestyle, I was able to get to a pain and symptom free life again. Very greatly to have found Opal and Dr Morgan

They have done miracles on my back! I have had lower back pain for decades and after working with Opal, the difference is massive. Nothing puts me in bed for days/weeks anymore! Highly recommend!

I highly recommend OPAL! I saw Dr. Evan for an evaluation and he honestly changed my life. I have had a weak left hand (and wrist and elbow and shoulder) for years now. I saw a different PT several years ago for forearm and wrist pain and he didn't change anything over the many sessions we had. I came to believe that this is just how I am: a person lacking fine motor skills, with an inability to stabilize my joints. I had such a negative story that I told myself about my left arm. My "dumb" arm. I showed Dr. Evan how in quadruped position by left elbow is flimsy. He listened to my concerns and did some testing, concluding that my nerves were trapped and he brought out an anatomy book to show me. He did a few chiropractic adjustments and some manual therapy. When I returned to quadruped position I didn't even recognize my elbow joint! It actually was stable! I instantly started to cry. I was so relieved and happy. I had so much negative self talk wrapped up in that arm, as well as some belief that there was just something wrong with me and I would never be strong. But nope! Just some pesky trapped nerves. I am so grateful. He showed me some moves to help keep the nerves from becoming trapped again. It was truly a great experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn how running PT at OPAL works and what to expect.

Do you take insurance?

We're cash-based and out-of-network. We provide itemized receipts you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We also accept HSA/FSA and offer payment plans.

What kinds of runners do you work with?

We work with road runners, trail runners, beginner runners building their first base, and experienced runners preparing for races. Whether you're dealing with a recurring injury or want to train smarter and prevent one, we can build a plan around your mileage goals and running style.

How is running PT different from regular PT?

Running PT at OPAL is built around your mechanics, your mileage, and your goals — not just where it hurts. We assess your running form, identify what's loading the injured tissue, and integrate return-to-running milestones so you come back with confidence, not guesswork.

Do I need a doctor's referral to start?

No referral needed. Texas allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can book a phone consult directly. We'll confirm whether our approach is the right fit and build a clear plan before your first session.

Can you help me if I'm not injured but want to run more without breaking down?

Yes. Many runners come to us proactively — to improve their form, build load capacity, or prepare for a race distance they've never attempted. A running assessment and movement screen can identify areas to address before they become injuries.
